These artificial elvers produced in Spain look and taste like elvers and are an affordable replacement for the real thing which the fishermen have been selling locally for as much as 750 Euros per kilo.
The Local Gloucester recipe. Treat as ordinary elvers. Defrost and prepare using the traditional Gloucester recipe. Prepare hot frying pan with bacon fat. Fry the elvars for a few minutes then add whipped egg creating an omelet.
The Spanish recipe. Defrost. Prepare small earthenware dish will olive oil some crushed garlic and one small chili. Heat dish till oil is boiling. Stir in elvars and cook for few minutes. Serve with Rioja, bread roll and eat with wooden fork to dissipate the the heat.
